American Geological Institute's Government Affairs Program Updates
Each month, the American Geological Institute's Government Affairs Program (GAP) sends prepares updates on its activities and policy developments in Washington that affect the geoscience community. These updates -- along with special updates and alerts on more pressing issues -- go out to AGI member society presidents, executive directors, Member Society Council representatives, GAP Advisory Committee representatives, and public policy committees, as well as to other interested geoscientists as part of a continuing effort to improve communications between GAP and the geoscience community that it serves. Visit GAP's homepage for updates and an extensive array of reports on geoscience policy issues.
G-I members Mike Duncan and Ross Boulanger have developed an educational web site, the " Geotechnical Engineering Photo Album," that serves as a supplement for available text books.
A wide range of topics are illustrated using sequences of photos or diagrams.
Faculty members can use the images to illustrate topics in courses.
Students can use the web site to get a visual feel beyond what textbooks provide. Mike and Ross plan to continually update the
site.
