Jean-Louis Briaud and Larry Jedele Elected to Geo-Institute Board of Governors

In accordance with the established guidelines of the Geo-Institute's Policy and Procedures Manual, Jean-Louis Briaud, Ph.D., P.E. and Larry P. Jedele, P.E. have been elected governors to the Geo-Institute's Board of Governors. Each of their 3-year terms officially begins on October 1, 2006, and ends on September 30, 2009.
Dr. Briaud has been a governor on the Geo-Institute Board of Governors since his appointment in October 2004. This is his second term as governor. He has been actively involved in Geo-Institute activities and has served as chair of the Geotechnics of Soil Erosion Committee and the Committee on Shallow Foundations. Recently, Dr. Briaud taught a course endorsed by the G-I on Shrink-Swell Soils. He has also been actively involved in ASCE activities, serving as Director of the Brazos Branch from 1983-1985 as well as chair of the Geotechnical Engineering Division of the Texas Section from 1981-1982.

Mr. Jedele has been actively involved in ASCE activities and served as the District 7 Director from 2002 through 2005. From 2003-2005, he was a member of the Technical Activities Committee, as well as the Mentoring Committee (a sub-committee of the Committee on Professional Practice). He is a past-chair of the Policy Review Committee (Chair, 2004-2005), of which he was a member from 2002-2005. Additionally, Mr. Jedele is a past-president of the Ann Arbor Branch (1979-80) and the Michigan Section (1987-88).
