From Kansas Department of Transportation.Geosynthetics are used in pavement systems between the subgrade and the base layer to increase bearing capacity, reduce rutting, fatigue cracking and reflective racking. Additionally, the required base thickness is reduced and the pavement design life is increased. Advantages include relatively fast and easy placement, improved pavement performance, and reduced subgrade support problems. This technique is applicable to stabilization of the pavement working platform.
