Student Travel Stipend

Each year, the Geo-Institute Organizational Member Council selects 60 graduate student members to receive a $300 travel stipend to attend the Organizational Member/Student Career Fair at the annual Geo-Congress. This opportunity is open exclusively to G-I student members. Selected students take part in the Career Fair, held in a dynamic “speed-dating” style format.

The application for the 2026 Student Travel Stipend will open in November 2025. Students interested in participating in the 2026 Career Fair will need to complete the application once it becomes available.

Small Grants Program

The Student Leadership Council (SLC) Small Grants Program (SGP) provides Graduate Student Organizations (GSO) access to small amounts of funding for student related activities.

Grants are applied for by GSOs and awarded by a committee composed of SLC members. Successful proposals must have clearly defined anticipated outcomes with one (or more) of the following objectives:

  • Promote the geo-profession and student engagement with the Geo-Institute
  • Increase technical knowledge and/or professional skills of the participants
  • Provide a valuable service to the community
